Injury Prevention CouncilIn combination with our in-house expertise and customer feedback, we created a third pillar of knowledge - Remedy Interactive's Injury Prevention Council - to co-develop our injury prevention strategy and to ensure we create the highest value for our customers. The Council is comprised of health practitioners, business leaders and injury prevention scientists who represent disciplines ranging from ergonomics to risk management to employee health and safety management. We constantly look for new leaders in injury prevention to add to our circle of expertise. Look for more experts here in the near future.
Dan Shafer, OT, CIE Dan Shafer is the President of VocSolutions Inc. where he and his team focus on ergonomic solutions for corporate employees at large clients such as Sun Microsystems, Roche Bioscience, Abbott Vascular, and others, as well as law firms and other workers' compensation clients. His extensive experience in the field of ergonomics and assistive technology includes serving as a founder and manager of the Computer Access Technology Lab for TransAccess Inc. (formerly DPI), where he provided ergonomics and technology solutions for high-tech employees with disabilities throughout the Bay Area. Prior to TransAccess Inc., Shafer served as a Research Health Scientist at the Palo Alto VA Rehabilitation Research & Development Center, where he participated in research studies involving robotics, vocational training methodologies, and video-integrated databases for assessment and training purposes. Shafer has presented at the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Rehabilitation Engineering Society (RESNA) National Conferences, and has authored and co-authored articles in publications such as ADVANCE for Directors in Rehabilitation, ADVANCE for Occupational Therapy Practitioners, and Work: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment, and Rehabilitation. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy with Certification in Technology Specialization from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Shafer also has received a Certified Industrial Ergonomist Certification through Oxford Research. Ron Goodman Ron Goodman has over 20 years of experience as a science researcher in fields ranging from ergonomics and injury prevention to user-centered design to digital audio signal processing to vaccinology. In 1999, he developed RSIGuard based on extensive research in ergonomics, psychology, and the field of persuasive technology. Previously Goodman did R&D work central to the development of the first portable high-capacity MP3 players. He has been actively involved in Injury Prevention Science and has begun to contribute to the next planned update to the HFES/ANSI ergonomics standard. Goodman received his BS in Engineering and Applied Science from the California Institute of Technology, and did his Masters work in Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz. John Gargiulo M.S., C.I.H, C.S.P. John Gargiulo is a Senior Loss Prevention Specialist for CSAC EIA, a public entity based in Sacramento, California, providing Environmental Health and Safety consulting to California Counties, Cities and Special Districts. He works closely with clients to identify and resolve occupational risk issues, help them evaluate compliance concerns and develop policy and procedures to manage risk in an ongoing fashion. His past employment history includes managing the HP Global Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics processes, in both office and industrial environments - efforts that engaged over 280,000 employees in 13 languages. John also chaired the HP Global Industrial Hygiene Technology Council, a group focused on identifying and developing policies and processes to manage risks common among HP operations . Prior to his time at HP, he worked for OSHA, where he served as a liaison to the state of Oregon in the area of ergonomics legislation, and was named California ergonomics representative to Federal OSHA during federal rulemaking efforts. He was also assigned to work with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health on ergonomic Health Hazard Evaluations in the Northwest. John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Washington State University and his Masters of Science degree from California State University at Fresno in Health Science (Industrial Hygiene Emphasis). Jordan S. Rinker MD, MPH Jordan Rinker has been a practicing Occupational Medicine physician in California since 1993. He began his career as the Associate Director of the University of California San Francisco Occupational Medicine residency-training program before branching out as a consultant for several small companies to worldwide corporations, hospitals, universities and other organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. His practice includes ergonomic injury analysis and determinations, medical treatment, and disability evaluations as well as program support for in-house health, wellness and ergonomic departments. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and specialty residency training in Occupational Medicine from the University of California San Francisco leading to board certification. Bronwyn Clifford Bronwyn Clifford, a Chartered Physical Therapist and Ergonomics Consultant, is currently the managing director of Physio at Work Ltd., in London, England. She specializes in work-related musculoskeletal disorders, primarily repetitive strain injuries (RSI) and back pain. She has worked as an Occupational Health Physical Therapist and Ergonomics Consultant for various industries including television, healthcare, finance and government. Her work has involved providing on-site physical therapy, DSE training, manual handling training, back care awareness classes, and general ergonomic advisory and training. Clifford has served as the Publicity Officer for the executive committee of the Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE), and continues to assist the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy with media campaigns surrounding work-related disorders. She graduated in Physiotherapy from the Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Ergonomics from the University of Surrey. Jessica Ellison, MS, CPE, CSP Jessica Ellison is a Principal Consultant at Environmental and Occupational Risk Management in San Jose, CA, where she provides ergonomic consultation services. She has deep experience conducting quantitative ergonomic risk assessments and developing ergonomic programs for a variety of clients in the solar, semiconductor, electronics, food and beverage, biotechnology, software, government and traditional manufacturing industries. Ellison holds a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from UC Davis. Mandy Gallant, PT, CPE, MS (HF/E) Mandy Gallant is a Certified Professional Ergonomist currently providing ergonomics consulting services in Western Canada. She has over 15 years of experience across a wide variety of industries including healthcare, food and beverage, biotech, heavy industry, manufacturing, transportation, education, equipment operation and high tech. As lead ergonomist for a large health care foundation, Mandy developed and implemented a corporate ergonomics program that cut loss costs almost in half within the first year of the program. Mandy has a particular passion for training and has been involved in content development and deployment of ergonomic training from front line workers to top management, and from one-hour introductory classes to multi-day training sessions. Mandy's background as a physical therapist allows her to combine an in-depth understanding of biomechanics and injury pathology with her expertise in industrial and office ergonomics to help clients implement programs and systems to reduce injuries, risk factors and associated costs. Mandy received her Bachelors of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and earned her Masters of Human Factors and Ergonomics from San Jose State University. Mandy also holds a Bachelors of Education from Queens University in Ontario, Canada. Jeanne Iverson, MS HFE, MS OT, CIE Jeanne Iverson, CEO and Senior Ergonomist for VSI Risk Management & Ergonomics Inc., is a certified Industrial Ergonomist. Her work as a professional human factors ergonomics engineer has involved performing evaluations in laboratory, manufacturing, office, and industrial environments. She has also worked on ergonomic improvement projects, including on-going scientific research projects with tool designs and redesigns, and use studies involving up-and-coming peripheral solutions with large companies such as Goldtouch, Logitech, Kinesis, Microsoft, and Kensington. As a human factors specialist, Iverson is adept at accurately identifying root cause of injury and mitigating injury to the employee through the optimal human-tool relationship. She holds two Master of Science degrees one in Human Factors Ergonomics Engineering and the other in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University. In addition, she holds two undergraduate degrees, in Pre-Physical Therapy and in Environmental Health and Safety. Swati Deshkar, CIE, MSPT Swati Deshkar is currently an ergonomic consultant with Bay Ergonomics. Deshkar has over a decade of experience in ergonomics solutions consulting, which includes training and ergonomics evaluations with hands-on implementations in manufacturing, office and R&D lab setups. She is a Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE) and a licensed Physical Therapist in California and llinois. She received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy (MSPT) from Bombay University in India. |
